Profile in English
Magdalena Żebrowska holds a Master of Science (MSc, 2006) and Doctoral degree (PhD, 2012) in Mathematics from the Wrocław University, Poland. Her master thesis in probability theory was awarded at the Contest of the Polish Mathematical Society for the best student's work on the probability theory and applications of mathematics. In her PhD thesis in statistical genetics she investigated the performance of a method called logic regression in the context of detection of genes responsible for quantitative traits in experimental crosses. The research involved development, improvements and using of novel statistical methods in the analysis of large genetic data, simulation study and real data analysis.
In 2013 she came to Vienna to hold a post-doc position in Medical Statistics at the Medical University of Vienna. She was working in the Center for Medical Statistics, Informatics and Intelligent Systems (CEMSIIS) in the group of prof. Martin Posch in research project supported by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) in the context of adaptive designs in clinical trials. She was also involved in projects with clinicians, preparing datasets, planning and performing of statistical analysis, reporting and documentation and validation of results.
In November 2020 Magdalena joined the Department of Epidemiology at the Medical University of Vienna.
Her methodological interests concern statistical model and variable selection methods, analysis of genetic interactions, statistical analysis of big data sets and biostatistical methods especially in medical and healthcare applications.
