People spend a high percentage of their time in interior spaces. Especially the most sensitive persons, sick people, elderly and children, often spend this time in only one room. The quality of the room air, of the indoor climate, but also other environmental conditions, are of particular relevance to them.
The living environment is therefore of great health importance, which we have examined in various projects. In contrast to outdoor air, the quality of indoor air is still inadequately regulated by law. It is therefore important to develop general guidelines for the assessment of indoor air. In Austria this is the task of a working group at the BMLFUW (Ministry of Environment) in which we take a leading part.
